Clash of the Titans II (17-Aug-43)

Background: The 479th (later renumbered to the 480th) AntiSubmarine Group flew patrols over the Western Med in B-24Ds, looking for Axis submarines.  On a few occasions, they instead encountered their opposite numbers – FW-200C-6s of KG40 flying anti-shipping patrols.  These sometimes developed into brawls.

On 17-Aug-43, a B-24D met two FW200C-6s, which attacked.  In this case, the B-24 downed one Kondor and drove off the other, but took enough damage that it was forced to ditch.

Set Up

• B-24D: hex 2520, alt 3.5, speed 4.0. Jot down upright bank and heading (select between NW and NE)
• Lead FW-200C: hex 3520, alt 3.5, speed 4.0. Jot down upright bank and heading (select between SW and SE).  Place 2nd FW-200C in flexible formation parameters.

Both sides reveal selected heading and bank simultaneously.

Special Rules:

Each side earns its aircraft severe damage value if it keeps its bombload.

Additional Rules:

1. FW-200s in flexible formation. 
2. All aircraft Regular pilots and gunners.
3. All aircraft start loaded with ordnance in bombbay.

ADC Availablility:

• B-24D is available?
• FW200C-6 ADC is available form Uncle Ted’s.
