Havocs Over Thala (22-Feb-43)

by Joe Ferrara

Background: As Rommel's forces attacked the strategic village of Thala, Allied aircraft, including A-20 Havocs of the 47th Bombardment Group were called in to support the defense. Often flying in marginal conditions and encountering heavy flak and Bf109s, they were instrumental in fighting off Rommel's assault. This flight of four A-20s lost one aircraft to intercepting Me-109s.
